To install, insert the flash drive into your home computer and select the folder on your flash drive and run the file “ENX1Inst.exe”. Follow the directions until it notifies that it is done installing. When it is completed, run the patch “ENX101Patch.exe” and follow the directions to complete the installation. After the patch has been installed, you now have the option of using Endnote at home.
Saving your Library
Remember to save your library so the diligent work you’ve done does not go to waste. To illustrate, I have just added 30 references(with the 3 critical components) to my social facilitation lit search during my office hours and I would like to save it to my flash drive so I can continue working on it at home. To do this, I will click the “File” in the upper left corner of the program and select “save a copy” from the drop down menu. I will name the endnote library as “social facilitation” and save it to my flash drive. If it has saved properly, there will be two components that should be on my flash drive; the socialfacilitation.enl file (which is the endnote library file that contains the text information) as well as a folder titled “socialfacilitation” that will contain 30 folders (each folder containing the attached full reference be it document, pdf, etc.). These two components must be together for you to access the attached full documents.
How to use Endnote
If you are new to Endnote, it is imperative that you watch the following how-to videos to fully utilize all of endnotes features.
Endnote is installed on all of the lab computers and team members are expected to store all of their lit search references in Endnote. When entering a reference into your endnote library, there are 3 critical components that must be included; the reference, the abstract, and the reference in its entirety (e.g. the pdf, word document, webpage, scanned book pages, etc.). It is important that you have all of the components or your reference is considered incomplete.
